Baggage Transfer Terms and Conditions

  • All luggage must have the name of the lead booker on each item of luggage.
  • We must be informed if any accommodation is booked under a name different to the lead booker.
  • There is a minimum 1 bag per walker policy on all routes with some routes denoting
    a minimum of two bags – see our pricelist for details.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE & EXCESS

  • Clients’ baggage transfer covers one piece of luggage per person and must not exceed 20kg in weight.
  • No items to be attached to the exterior of the bags booked for transfer.
  • Additional Items – Dedicated medical bags will be transferred by arrangement, free of charge, e.g. CPAP Machines.
  • If a single item of baggage exceeds 20kg but less than 23kg we will move the bag once only and clients will be invited to redistribute weight between booked baggage.
    Should they be unable to do so, a laundry style bag will be provided with client’s luggage after the first bag transfer. This additional bag can be kept by the client and will incur an additional fee for the baggage transfer which can be paid by cash or card.
  • If clients exceed the number of bags booked, an additional fee will be applied.
  • Any unscheduled baggage transfers will incur additional fees.

LOGISTICS & TIMINGS

  • Baggage should be made available for collection by 9:15am each morning, with the exception of those travelling North to South whereby an 8:15am collection is required. If we need to alter this time, we will contact clients directly.
  • If clients are not overnighting ahead of their first luggage transfer, arrangements must be made for luggage collection. If clients expect to arrive at their start point later than 9.30am (i.e., they are getting a later bus or train into Fort William/Inverness) we must be informed at least 14 days in advance of their start date.

Baggage drop/pick up is available at:
Fort William – The Nevis Centre, An Aird, opposite Morrisons Supermarket. Please check opening times for day of travel. Note: Currently opens late on a Monday.
Inverness – IT Tours & Taxis, 55 Church Street, Inverness. Open until 10pm.
Bags must be made available for collection by 9:15am. For any baggage transfers after 9:15am, please contact us. Cost for utilising our luggage depot/s is £10 per bag per depot.

  • NEW for 2024! Great Glen Way Luggage Storage – Any clients travelling on the Great Glen Way not requiring having a bag in their possession for the duration of their trip, may utilise our luggage storage service and stored bag/s will be delivered to their final stop as per their booking. Standard luggage transfer rates apply which includes luggage storage fees. Available on a first come first served basis.
  • Late Arrivals: Should clients be arriving at their next stop late in the evening, they must confirm with their booked accommodation that their baggage has been delivered prior to 5pm and contact us directly if not. In the unlikely event of any baggage delays this will allow us time to ensure correct delivery the same day.

  • Airbnb & Wild Camping: Our baggage transfer service is only available where accommodation outlets have someone present to accept delivery/uplift of bags or clients have arranged a secure location for luggage drop off/pick up. If neither of these options are available then we must be informed, and alternative arrangements made. 

SHUTTLE TRANSFERS AND PRIVATE TRANSFERS

  • If you have a confirmed booking that includes Abriachan Shuttle Transfers your clients are not required to contact us directly unless they wish to cancel.
  • For any last-minute booking amendments that your clients may have during their trip, please ask them to email bookings@lochnesstravel.com marked URGENT, or telephone 01463 832 566 within office hours (9am-5pm)
  • Clients are not permitted to travel with their luggage transfers.

LIABILITY

  • No liability for loss or damage to baggage, or the contents, is accepted by the carrier. It is strongly recommended that clients have their own insurance for their baggage, as part of their personal or travel holiday insurance.
  • High value, breakable items or camping gas must not be left in bags booked for transfer.
  • Musical instruments for transfer are by arrangement only.

CANCELLATIONS & AMENDMENTS POLICY

  • Any changes to accommodation must be advised to us immediately to ensure correct delivery of bags. Amendments within 48 hours of travel must be emailed marked URGENT.
  • If clients choose to cancel;
    – 28 to 8 days from the start of their trip 50% of the total trip value will be charged.
    – 7 days or less from their trip start date will be charged in full.
    – Same day cancellations may be subject to an additional admin fee.
  • If a booking was paid for in advance, we reserve the right to charge for any bank processing fees incurred.
